(I CAN’T GET NO) SATISFACTION – Guitar Lesson

Satisfaction was released in 1965 and became the Rolling Stones first #1 hit in North America. A song about commercialism and sexual need, it has been voted the #2 rock song of all time by … you guessed it … ROLLING STONE Magazine! What is number one you ask? Why "Like a ROLLING STONE" I answer. The opening riff, written as a horn line, is burned into the history of Rock 'n Roll! Here's your (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction guitar lesson!

Strum pattern for intro and verses follows riff and is:

down/down    up/down/up   down/down    down/down/down

the "I Can't Get No" part is by feel (a series of UP strums) … and counter to the main rhythm

E7
 I can't get no
A7
 satisfaction
E7
 I can't get no
A7
 satisfaction
         E7          B7
And I try, and I try,
         E7          A7
and I try, and I try.

(guitar riff enters)
        E         D/A
I can't get no
        E         D/A
I can't get no

          E           D/ A
When I'm driving in my car
          E                D/A
And that man comes on the radio
          E                   D/A
And he's tellin' me more and more
           E           D/ A
about some useless information
             E           D/ A
Supposed to fire my imagination
         E       D/A
I can't get no

Oh no no no
         E       D/A
hey hey hey
              E  D/A
that's what I say

When I'm watching my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
how white my shirts could be
But he can't be a man cos he doesn't smoke
the same cigarettes as me
I can't get no,
no no no.

When I'm riding 'round the world
and I'm doing this and I'm signing that
And I'm trying to meet some girl And tell me
"Baby better come back maybe next week,
cos you see I'm on a losin' streak"
I can't get no,
no no no.
hey hey hey

I can't get no…

Thank you.  It sounds as though you palm mute some of the strums.
Great job on the song though.
