Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Guitar But Were Afraid To Ask!
Open Chords
Ah …. those first few chords! It's so nice to get them under your belt and have a base for playing songs. We'll learn these open chord "families" and get rolling towards accompanying that great voice of yours!
Wow …. I truly believe that’s a chicken/egg decision and I’m sure each song writer has his/her own method … for me it would probably be a lyrical idea. But if you have an idea for a story in words … then play around with some chords and see if a pleasing melody pops into your head.
I'm 57, it's been 25 plus years since I've picked up a guitar, due to an injury to my left hand index finger. Decided to take up the guitar again, but left handed, more like a hobby. Been at it for over three weeks, and impressed with myself, going at it as a beginner, thats never picked up a guitar. Wanted to say thanks for the time you devote yourself to beginners.

I have come across only one other website that I enjoy learning from and find success and that is justinguitar.com. He is awesome, as are you. Thanks for helping make my childhood dream come true. I have wanted to learn guitar since I was a kid and now I have my first three chords down. I just gotta get switching between them faster. Again, thank you so much!
You might try my site songmentor.com. There is a tab at the top that has a lot of cords listed. Not sure whether you can download or cut and paste but it is pretty thorough.

I have taught guitar in the classroom and also privately. My instruction has focused on advancing practical rather than theoretical knowledge and making learning fun! I have a "healthy" collection of electric guitars and enjoy working on them, setting them up, modding them, etc. I currently work as a part-time professional musician and actor. After family, my other passion is this website. I am committed to enhancing the site and making free lessons and info about the guitar available to you .... committed to being your guitar mentor ... committed to being your FREE GUITAR MENTOR!

Hi ther Mr. Jackson, I love strumming these chords; music comes to my ears, but when writing a song should the lyrics come first?
