OH PRETTY WOMAN – Guitar Lesson

The classic encounter song! Roy Orbison's catchy intro (later reshaped by The Beatles in Day Tripper) and all the great chord changes … presented here in this Oh Pretty Woman guitar lesson!

  A F#m
Pretty woman walking down the street,
           A F#m
Pretty woman, the kind I'd like to meet.
           D D
    Pretty woman...

              E E
I don't believe you -- it must be true.
                 E E (repeat main riff 4 times)
No one could look as good as you.

Pretty woman, won't you pardon me.
Pretty woman, I couldn't help but see.
    Pretty woman...

Oh, you look lovely as you can be.
Are you lonely just like me?

    Dm G
    Pretty woman, stop awhile.
    C C/B Am Am
    Pretty woman, talk awhile.
    Dm G C C
Pretty woman, give your smile to me.
    Dm G
    Pretty woman, yeah, yeah, yeah,
    C C/B Am Am
    Pretty woman, look my way.
    Dm G C A
Pretty woman, say you'll stay with me,
             F#m D E (repeat main riff 4 times)
'Cause I need you, need you tonight.

Pretty woman, don't walk on by.
Pretty woman, don't make me cry.
    Pretty woman...

    Don't walk away, hey.
    Okay.
If that's the way it must be, okay.
I guess I'll go on home, it's late.
There'll be tomorrow night, but wait
    What do I see?
    She's walking back to me.
    Oh, pretty woman.

Hi Jackson.
I am very much enjoying the lessons and music you are presenting.  Its fantastic actually.
Are you able to show the strumming pattern you are using for Oh Pretty Woman on the video.  It sounds really effective and entertaining, a little bit of muting with accentuation on specific beats, etc I think.  Without seeing what you are dong I haven't been able to wtrk the strumming pattern out.
Anyway, you have a great website and I'm learning heaps.
Regards,
Stu (in Australia)

Hi Stu and thanks kindly. The earlier vids were less detailed with strumming …. Pretty Woman … through the body (verses) of the song … would be one clear and strong strum down … followed by a muted chop down and then a quick three strum pattern of up/up/down. Try it out.

Jackson:  Thanks for the update;  Funny you mentioned the Beatles "Day Tripper" because currently I'm trying to learn George Harrison's lead guitar riffs in Long Tall Sally, Roll Over Beethoven and I Saw Her Standing There.  I'm looking for the TABS for the guitar solos.
