Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Guitar But Were Afraid To Ask!
Rock
Some of the best guitar payers on the planet are toiling away in lounges around the world. However, these acclaimed players have set the standard for feel and/or technique. They are among the greatest Rock players of all time!
Jackson, thank you for all the great free guitar advice and interesting tid-bits of Rock & Roll history. Born in Alberta I have spent most of my life in California and currently reside in Arizona with my wife. In my earlier years I listened with my gramps every Saturday to the Grand Old Opre the hour before Hockey Night in Canada began. In my teens I was clearly drawn to the Rock & Roll era and the great guitarist abound. Page, Beck, Clapton, May, Townsend, Hendrix, Lee (Alvin) and so on. When we moved to California I had the good fortune of being exposed for a short time to a California guitarist by the name of John Cipollina with the band Quick Silver Messenger Service who was also very inspiring. If yo listen to some of QSMS's early stuff you will hear some incredible playing from John. Check out on You Tube "Mona" as done by the band another Bo Diddly beat version you highlighted recently in one of your great offerings, great stuff.
If you or any of your 1000 plus followers are ever in the Phoenix area take the time to find and witness a local guitarist by the name of Carvin Jones, he is something special. He plays in local bars and clubs in the area and puts on an incredible show. I have seen him many times in such venues and he is jaw dropping he once laid his strat down on our table and continued playing it while taking a swig of my wifes ice tea…check him out on you tube as well. Jackson again thanks for all the great stuff and the terrific way you simplify your message in your lessons.
Hi William …. I had a QSM album back in the day …. been awhile though since I listened to them so I’ll need to do that. Looked up Mr. Jones as well … nice story there and a very good blues player. Thanks for the kind words!
My name is Jackson Mace. I have been involved with music and specifically guitar since 1963. I have been an educator for 32 years and a working musician for 40. I have taught guitar in the classroom and also privately. My instruction has focused on advancing practical rather than theoretical knowledge and making learning fun! I have a "healthy" collection of electric guitars and enjoy working on them, setting them up, modding them, etc. I currently work as a part-time professional musician and actor. After family, my other passion is this website. I am committed to enhancing the site and making free lessons and info about the guitar available to you .... committed to being your guitar mentor ... committed to being your FREE GUITAR MENTOR!
